This is the standard through which Mexico adopted the UN Globally Harmonized System (GHS, Rev. 5) for labels and safety data sheets. It took more than two decades to arrive after the first international commitment, and it has been in force since 2018 without changes.Es la norma con la que México adoptó el Sistema Globalmente Armonizado de la ONU (GHS, Rev. 5) para etiquetas y hojas de datos de seguridad. Tardó más de dos décadas en llegar desde el primer compromiso internacional, y lleva vigente desde 2018 sin modificaciones.

- Mexico's pattern: voluntary first, then mandatory.El patrón de México: primero voluntario, luego obligatorio. The GHS arrived in 2011 as a voluntary standard and four years later as a NOM. When an NMX appears on a topic, it is worth watching whether a NOM follows.El GHS llegó en 2011 como norma voluntaria y cuatro años después como NOM. Cuando aparece una NMX sobre un tema, conviene vigilar si después llega la NOM.
- The transition was long and flexible.La transición fue larga y flexible. Three years, with three valid ways to comply. Companies that prepared with the 2014 draft were already compliant in 2018.Tres años, con tres caminos válidos para cumplir. Las empresas que se prepararon con el proyecto de 2014 ya cumplían en 2018.
- Mexico stayed at Rev. 5.México se quedó en la Rev. 5. The UN has published more recent revisions of the GHS.
